How can I even describe how much I enjoyed this book. I can't. The only reason it's 4 stars is book the 2nd book in the series is ultimately EVEN BETTER. That doesn't happen often.
This is a beautiful story about a somewhat pampered girl who needs to face the worst life throws at her. Insert 7 protective brothers who go missing, a mysterious prince, an new fae friend, and some normal human characters. As Aro and her men travel, they face magic, love, sorrow, and learn to create a new family out of their broken lives.
Aro, the main character, is so human in this fantastical world. She mourns in a way we can connect to, and desperately seeks human connections just as we would in times of need. In other ways, she is hard to relate to in that she comes into some mysterious powers and deals with it, rather well. Too well actually.
All her sidekicks, or her boys- as she calls them, are dependable, loyal, and stick together in times of trouble. This book does have a lot of sad moments and really pulls on your heartstrings, but fear not, there are comedic moments too.
Recommended for absolutely anyone who loves YA. I can't imagine a single person not liking this series. When you're done, make sure to pick up Broken Prince, the next book in the series. And then Broken Promise, the third book. THEY ARE ALL SO GOOD. SO SO GOOD.
