Nicole just moved to a new school and the moment she walks in, she discovers her whole class is full of witches. After her momentary confusion, she picks up the trade like a pro, with the help of her new friend Kate. On the night of the Olympian Meteor Shower, She, Kate, her insta-love Blake, his girlfriend Danielle, and another dude all get powers from the comet. They are destined for great things.
I recommend this for middle schoolers or early high schoolers who don't have a lot of YA fantasy/mythology under their belt. Nicole as a character is fine, as is Blake. Kate, however, is the goody to shoes to end all good to shoes. Seriously, just stop. Danielle is your stereotypical jealous bitchy "stay away from my boyfriend or I'll curse you" bitchy girlfriend who gets in the way of Blake and Nicole getting together in their insta-lovey way.
The second half is a giant treasure hunt that, like I said, is pretty fun to read if your in middle school or early high school, but will leave you with your eyes rolling if you're really any older than that.
Overall, a good start to a new mythological series about a young group of people finding out who they are really meant to be.
