It's really hard to write this review, because I honestly can't pinpoint what it is I loved about it. For all purposes, this book is a generic angels vs. demons in a chosen one scenario, but somehow, Alicia Rades just did it better. Maybe it's the broody boy with the dark past who DOESN'T hold back pulling the Edward Cullen " you must stay away from me " nonsense; Marek was open and kind. Maybe it's that no one tried to hide facts from Ryn, the MC, about things that involved her.
I liked Ryn well enough. She wasn't super original as a character or anything, but she actually listened when people said " don't do that, it's dangerous." We all know that MC that can't help but attempt to save the day even though she's useless (ugh). She also doesn't cave on her morals no matter what anyone says, which I can respect. Let's also talk about the fact that one of her parents is actually alive, hooray! Kudos to Rades for making a very overdone plot highly refreshing! Faith in the angels vs. demons genre restored. ???
