Ellie is a woodcarver's daughter. Brought up by two loving parents along with two adoring little twin sisters, Ellie is content with her lot in life. Except the nightmares of her childhood have come back with a vengence AND she is being forced to marry thr most loathsome man. Until, the Fey King Rain Tairen Soul hears Ellie's soul call out to his in only the way a truemate can. He finds that Ellysetta is more than just a woodcarvers daughter and has the potential to save his people.
Not a particularity creative story line, but I enjoyed it. It was entirely about world building and getting to intimately know the characters. Now that that's out of the way, I'm hoping book two really gets to the meat of the action.
it kinda felt insta-lovey with the whole soul mates thing. also none of the characters particularly stood out for their personalities which was a disappointment. However, Ellie and her ongoing slow change from being a lowly peasant to Queen of the Fey was an interesting and welcome journey.
