Laura Thalassa has done it again. She is simply not capable of writing a story that will be anything short of enthralling.
Rhapsodic is an NA novel that follows Callie, a private investigator who happens to be a Siren. The only mythical creature able to control someone with her voice. Callie had a rough past but has slowly dug her way out. Unfortunately, shit hits the fan when her past doesn't stay her past and a shadow from long ago comes back into her life: The Bargainer, Desmond, has come to collect his debt. 7 years later.
The tinder that was once being kindled 7 year ago turns into raging fire between Des and Callie. Is it real though? He left her once, he could leave her again. Callie's love life is not the only tumultuous thing is Rhapsodic. Fae women are going missing, only to come back comatose with a new born child. Who is hurting these women? It's up to Callie and Des to find out.
I LOVED Rhapsodic. The chapters switch every other between the past and the present. You learn about so many little things about young Callie and Des that makes sense later in the future. It was really unique and I loved it!
You drive yourself nuts the whole book wondering what the deal with Des is. Why he chose now to come back into her life. What really happened all those years. You worry as much as Callie and I loved every frustrating minute of it.
Unfortunately, the ending was rather predictable, but that didn't stop me from loving it. Laura Thalassa has shown time and time again in her books that she strongly believes in love, bonds, soulmates, the works. It isn't any different in Rhapsodic. Like I said though, it was still greatly enjoyable.
I'm already craving the next book and this one isn't even out yet!!! If you're looking for a unique love story with fae and magic interspersed, this book is definitely for you.
Did I mention I really need the sequel?
