First, let's talk about that cover. WHY DOES EVIE LOOK LIKE SHE HAS NO EMOTIONS?? It's worst that Kristen Stewart and that, my friends, is a a high insult. It looks like she's about to fall asleep or maybe concentrate on farting really softly.
On to the plot: Evie has the oh so special ability to see through glamors, making her very special to the supernatural finding department (it has a really long name I don't care for.) She catches a guy who looks like water and can take the shape of any human being. He is detained and she visits him often and they fall in love. Evie also learns that this facility who cared for her, raised her, and for now whom she works for, doesn't do as much good for the world as she once thought it did.
Paranormalcy was entertaining. I'll give it that. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Though I almost dropped it when I first read that she has a pink sparkly taser named tasey. Oh god:
The love interest was an incredibly boring human being, but I still liked him for some reason. If I had 3 words to describe I'd used...nice. that's it. There are no more words. He's just nice.
I think this would appeal more to the younger side of YA-genre lovers. Had I been 16, This would probably be one of my favorite books of all time. Alas, aging does terrible things to your perspective.
