Kai is a normal girl with normal friends. She goes on a climbing trip with her friends when they find a young girl passed out. Kai stays with her while her friends go for help. Little does she know that this seemingly innocent girl and her troupe of merry men and women are DRAGONS.
I liked this book more than I thought I would. It's fun and not over the top in terms of insta-love bonds. Kai and "said bonded dragon" fight it, but you know the way it'll go in the end. She does go over the top in her effort to not believe the things going on around her though. Too much time is spent with Kai trying to fight against the fact that the bond doesn't exist and dragons aren't...dragons. "THIS MUST ALL BE A LIE!!!!"
Another thing that just gets my goat
Is kai's best friend Charlotte. She goes from hating a guy to loving a guy. All in one shot. Insta-love. ew. They pretend to hate each other and they clearly don't. It's has a very Quin Loftus type of romantic feel. Coming from me, that is the burns of burns when it comes to insults on romance writing. (see Elfin review)
All in all I will be eagerly awaiting the next book with all its dragon royalty, usurpers, and rocky romances. Good thing is, all three books of this trilogy will be out by November 2015 end, so look forward to it!
