My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Man was that a great read!
Zera is a fierce and sassy heroine fighting for both her heart and Prince Lucien's.
As a heartless, owned by the witch Nightsinger, she faces ravage hunger that constantly tells her to kill, only slightly pacified by feasting on raw meat.
Then, everything changes when it seems that a war is brewing between the witches and the humans once more. Nightsingers promises to give her heart back-making her human once more- if she brings the witches one single heart- the prince's.
Zera learns of human life once more and struggles as her feelings for the humans around are at war with the monster that she is. Constantly fighting the hunger that screams at her to rip them apart, she dons the mask of a noble Lady and bridges the gap between human emotions and a monster's heart.
So much fun! The ending, was a lovely twist. I immediately knew who the surprise guest wast he moment it happened. It was too delicious of a twist!! My goodness, I'm going to have to dig into the next book right away to see what's going on!
Gavik was the obvious, easy enemy we all love to hate. Y'shennria was the prickly aunt who you have to win over.
Malachite and Fione were definitely fun and sassy side characters that stood in their own right, not just to develop Lucien and Zera. Speaking of Lucien, I found him quite boring actually...except for the 2 times he was...not Lucien *not saying because spoilers*
A strong 4.25 stars from me!
